Peruvian Agroexports increase to the European Union
The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Rogers Valencia, announced today that, between January and June of 2018, Peruvian agro-exports to the European Union (EU) amounted to US $ 1 093 million, registering a growth of 24% in relation to the same period of the previous year. The minister stressed that this is the highest historical semester since the entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement with the EU, in March 2013.
"In the first six months of the year, agricultural exports to the European Union grew more than 80% compared to the same period in 2013, when it reached a figure of US $ 602 million," said Mincetur.
He explained that the growth to June 2018 was supported by the largest shipments of fresh grapes (+ 58%), mango (+ 44%), avocado (+ 33%), asparagus (+ 20%), coffee (+ 15%) and banana (+ 7%), which accounted for 68% of the total exported.
It should be noted that Peruvian agro-exports have as their main destination the economic block (37% share). Peru is the world's largest supplier of avocado and asparagus, it is the second largest in mango (after Brazil), sixth in tangerines and coffee, seventh in fresh grapes and tenth in banana.
