Indonesia signing Technical Agreements with BSO
Through the SIPPO programme, Swisscontact has significantly strengthened its presence in Indonesia as a capacity-building programme for export promotion initiatives. This has been accomplished by formalising technical agreements with its partner Business Support Organizations (BSOs)
SIPPO has been active in Indonesia since 2003, focusing on supporting export-ready companies and working with various government and ministerial offices to achieve its goals. Starting in 2017, SIPPO underwent a strategic transition, shifting its focus from supporting companies to the mezzo level. Under this new mandate, SIPPO aims to support the Indonesian government in increasing the country's export turnover to Swiss and European markets by offering market access capacity building programmes to BSOs. The ultimate goal is to equip BSOs with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide first-class export promotion services to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia.
New technical agreements with two Indonesian Ministries
SIPPO's new mandate is divided into three phases. The first phase ran from 2017 to 2021, while the second phase covers the years 2021 to 2025 (and the third from 2025 to 2029). In the second phase, SIPPO is working actively with three governmental BSOs namely Ministry of Marine Affair and Fisheries, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs and Indonesia Essential oil Council.
SIPPO recently concluded two technical agreements with the Ministry of Trade for the Technical Wood sector and the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs for the Natural Ingredients sector. The signing ceremony took place at the opening of Trade Expo Indonesia 2023 on 18 October 2023 and was facilitated by the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia. These technical agreements will strengthen and improve the SIPPO programme, enabling it to further support BSOs in achieving the desired export sales results
